DESCRIPTION
The self-titled 1973 debut album by Sadistic Mika Band—featuring Kazuhiko Kato (g, vo), Mika (vo), Masayoshi Takanaka (g), Rei Ohara (b), and Yukihiro Takahashi (ds)—returns as part of the revived ultra–high-end 100% Pure LP series. Packed with colorful, danceable boogie and rock ’n’ roll, the album created a major sensation even in London at the height of the glam rock era.
“100% Pure LP” is a special Made-in-Japan product line introduced in 2012, widely recognized around the world as a pioneer of modern high-fidelity vinyl. One of its defining features is the use of uncolored virgin vinyl, completely eliminating carbon and other pigments typically used in standard LPs—materials known to affect sound quality. Using only pure, straight PVC compound ensures exceptional stability and consistency in the pressing process.
Another hallmark is the adoption of metal master pressing. By eliminating the usual intermediate steps—metal mother and stamper—the grooves are pressed directly from the metal master, enabling ultra-accurate groove formation. However, due to the lower durability of the metal master, the total number of pressings must be strictly limited.
This release further enhances fidelity by adopting 45RPM, a format typically reserved for 12-inch singles. Although the reduced running time per side necessitates a 2LP set, the wider and longer grooves—and the higher rotational speed—deliver superior stability and significant advantages in sonic detail, clarity, and overall richness.
The audio source is based on newly transferred 96kHz/24bit WAV files taken from the original analog master tapes, and has been mastered as flat as possible in order to preserve the freshness of the sound and its dynamic range. The result pursues a natural sound that remains faithful to the original source.
Through its uncompromising attention to every detail—from tape source and vinyl formulation to the pressing method—the 100% Pure LP series brings out the full potential of analog records. The result is a sound that retains the punch and warmth of vinyl while eliminating all muddiness or coloration, offering a truly pure and crystal-clear listening experience.
The 7-inch single originally included with the first pressing is also faithfully reproduced using uncolored virgin vinyl (note: this disc is not pressed using the heavyweight metal master process).
